Ahh the first day of school…the boys get up on time with out being shaken. Heck, I didn’t even get a chance to peek into their rooms to see if they were stirring. I barely had my 2nd cup of coffee before a head was peaking into the kitchen…”Is it time to get ready for school yet?” asks my youngest son. Do you suppose he was just dying to get there and do some math? Try…he was very excited about his new out…as in “totally brand spanking new” from Old Navy. Come on…this is my second child…of the same gender …he is the hand-me-down king of all the 2nd graders. This kid rarely sees a “brand spanking new” outfit let alone wears one. He deserved to be giddy.
Fast forward to dropping them off at the bus…there is a sweet mom taking snapshots of her 1st grader as she gets on the bus. Hmm…. is this a bad mom momment? I AM a photographer…shouldn’t I be there with my big fat Nikon snapping away? I ponder… but I know deep down my eldest son would have been mortified if I’d done so … he’s in 5th grade after all and way to cool to have pose by the bus for his mom and her camera. This is old hat….
…but sneaky me… I ambushed them coming home… and of course here is what I got… they are totally photographer’s kids! My older son is doing his best to boogie down those bus steps fast enough to be nothing but a blur…but I managed to get that expression. And my younger son…is in true paparazzi mode. Head ducked down …there is NO WAY I’m getting his mug on film. GEESH MOM!!!!
at least if one day they become famous they’ve had plenty of practice avoiding cameras!
